Japan – Rude Awakening Back Home for Those Leaving to Study at the Best Abroad

You hear these isolated stories every now and again of cultural biases against those who leave their native country to study abroad and return expecting the labor market to bow at their feet (the “bow” was actually unitended in this case). Well, not so much on a more macro level apparently in Japan. I was amazed at the frequency and number of folks who have experienced this reverse backlash for having left the country to study. Interesting to ponder if you are a Japanese kid thinking about leaving  ….
